GREEN INITIATIVE: FROM COMPOST TO SEED BALL GIFTING

On December 15, 2023, the students of Class VIII embarked on a remarkable eco-friendly journey initiated by their teachers. The project initiated by the Samarpan club aimed at educating and involving students in sustainable practices, starting with composting and culminating in the creation and gifting of seed balls. The entire process was a testament to the school's commitment to environmental awareness and responsibility.

Activity Timeline:

  1. Composting Workshop (December 15, 2023):
  • Teachers conducted a comprehensive presentation and showed an instructive video to students, enlightening them on the significance of composting.
  • During the winter break, students actively participated in composting, applying the knowledge gained from the workshop.
  1. Seed Ball Making (January 2024):
  • Post the composting phase, students engaged in a seed ball making activity at the school.
  • The seed balls, a blend of compost and seeds, were carefully crafted by the students, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
  1. Paper Bag Creation (February 20, 2024):
  • To present the seed balls in an eco-friendly manner, students undertook the task of making paper bags.
  • The paper bags were crafted using recycled materials, reinforcing the concept of sustainability.
  1. Presentation to Teachers and Staff (February 26, 2024):
  • The culminating event took place on February 26, 2024, where students presented their eco-friendly creations to teachers and staff.
  • Each seed ball, encapsulated in a handcrafted paper bag, represented a symbol of growth, sustainability, and environmental consciousness

The students of Class VIII, through their seed ball gifting initiative, have exemplified the school's dedication to environmental education and sustainable living. The project, which involved hands-on activities and practical knowledge sharing, serves as a foundation for cultivating a more environmentally conscious future. The Principal commended and congratulated both students and the responsible teachers for their commitment to this green initiative. The Principal encouraged further planning for a zero-waste initiative, indicating an ongoing commitment to sustainable practices. Ms. Indira Sukumaran, the coordinator, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including teachers, club members, students, parents, and the Principal, for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the successful execution of the initiative.
