The ‘’Arithmetic Operations Using Models’’ competition was organized by the Mathematics Department of Indian School Sohar on 15th October 2023 for classes V to VIII. This competition aimed to address principles such as problem solving, critical thinking, and the application of mathematical concepts in real-life scenarios.
120 participants showcased a wide range of innovative models, demonstrating a comprehensive grasp of arithmetic operations. Through these models, students effectively communicated their understanding of fundamental math operations, fostering an appreciation for practical application alongside theoretical knowledge.
The judging panel comprised of the following esteemed judges:
Class V & VI: Ms. Divya Priya D, Ms. Abhaya Asok and Ms. Kavitha Rajesh.
Class VII & VIII: Ms. Aishwarya Suresh, Ms. Usha Prabhu and Ms. Padma K.
The competition was judged based on the following criteria: content, originality, creativity, and presentation.
The Model Making Competition on Arithmetic Operations was a resounding success. It provided a platform for students to engage actively in practical application, enabling a deeper understanding of arithmetic concepts. The event not only encouraged creativity and innovation but also helped in reinforcing foundational mathematical skills among the participants.
Recognizing and appreciating the outstanding achievements of the participating students, Principal Mrs. Sanchita Verma, Vice Principal Mr. Yashvir Singh, and AVP & HOD Mathematics Mrs. Indira Sukumaran expressed their heartfelt commendations. They extended their appreciation to the dedicated teachers in charge, Mr. Maijo Varghese , Ms. Mini Susam, Ms. Jinu Raghavan, Ms. Subhadra Shikha , and Ms. Remya K. Mani for the successful execution of the event.
