SCIENCE EXTEMPORE COMPETITION FOR CLASS V

‘Science of today is the technology of tomorrow’ - Edward Teller.

To showcase the exceptional knowledge and speaking skills of students, the Science Extempore Competition was organized by Department of primary Science at Indian School, Sohar on 23rd August, 2023. This event provided a platform for participants to express their scientific insights and communicate effectively on a range of topics. The competition aimed to foster scientific thinking, improve communication abilities, and enhance confidence among the students. The preliminary selection round was conducted on 16th August by respective science teachers.

The event started with a melodious prayer song, followed by warm address from respected Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma. The section supervisor Ms. Alka Singh extended a welcome address to everyone and introduced the judging panel.

The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across grade V. Participants were given the opportunity to choose topics related to different branches of science, including Biology, Environmental science etc. Each participant had to deliver a concise and well-structured speech within a time period of two minutes.

Participants were evaluated on scientific accuracy, clarity of presentation, effective communication and confidence. The competition was judged by Ms. Mrudula V Channa, Ms. Arya Nair and Ms. M. Subhashini. The judges were impressed by the depth of knowledge demonstrated by the participants.

Amidst tough competition, the students who emerged as winners were: 

First position  -  Samanvi Sathyajith  -  V C

Second position  -  Rithvik Vijay  -  V B

Third position  -  Apoorva Aravind M  -  V F

The event was coordinated by incharges Ms. Anagha Panse and Ms. Karuna Mehta along with other teachers of the department. The Science Extempore Competition proved to be a resounding success. The event not only encouraged students to delve deeper into various scientific topics but also instilled a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
