78TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT INDIAN SCHOOL SOHAR

Indian School Sohar marked the 78th Independence Day with a vibrant and memorable celebration, embodying the spirit of patriotism and unity. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest, Mr. Abraham George, President of the School Managing Committee. The other guests for the occasion were Mr. Ajay Damani, Treasurer SMC, Mr. Ajay Ganti and Dr. Ragini Vaishnav. The day was filled with a series of engaging performances and speeches that captivated the audience and honoured the rich culture of India.

The celebration began with a stirring rendition of the song "Taron Ko Chumein Tiranga” by the senior students and was a testament to their deep-seated patriotism and their artistic prowess. Ms. Sanchita Verma, Principal, took the stage to deliver the Independence Day address and presented a compelling tribute titled "Guardians of the Nation," commemorating the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the nation. The speech celebrated the courage, sacrifice, and valour of the Indian Armed Forces, highlighting the steadfast dedication of soldiers who defend the country with remarkable bravery.

The junior students presented "Fire of Freedom", characterized by energetic participation and enthusiastic expressions, reflecting understanding and appreciation of India’s freedom struggle by the younger generation. The school choir performed "Qatra Qatra – Watan Ke Naam," a soulful and evocative song that added a poignant touch to the celebration, through the illustration of the struggle that the soldiers undergo to safeguard their mother land.

The final act of the day was a dance drama titled "Tum Bhool Na Jao Unko," presented by young dancers from Classes II to VIII. This touching and evocative performance honoured the brave soldiers, highlighted women empowerment and illustrated the sacrifices made by freedom fighters through expressive dance and dramatic narration.

Mr. Abraham George, President of the School Managing Committee, in his address expressed deep gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for its warm hospitality and steadfast support of the Indian community. He also highlighted the significance of Independence Day, urging everyone to remember the sacrifices of India's freedom fighters and the valour of the Indian Armed Forces.

The event celebrated India's rich history and honored the sacrifices, pain, and struggles of its brave soldiers, while also inspiring students to cherish and uphold the values of freedom and unity.
