Embracing Albert Einstein’s belief in the power of curiosity, the Science Extempore Competition was held on 19th August 2024 organized by Department of Science. This event provided a platform for students of class V to explore and express their scientific curiosity through impromptu speaking.
The event commenced with a melodious prayer song followed by warm address extended by the Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma. The section supervisor Dr. Alka Singh extended a welcome address to everyone and introduced the judging panel.
Each participant had to deliver a concise and well-structured speech within a time period of two minutes. Topics were tailored to be age-appropriate and covered basic concepts in areas such as the human body, environment, technology and simple physical phenomena. The students demonstrated impressive knowledge and enthusiasm.
Participants were evaluated on scientific accuracy, clarity of presentation, effective communication and confidence. The competition was judged by Dr. Regina Varghese, Ms. Radhikha Vignesh and Ms. Pooja Sharma. The judges were impressed by the students' ability to articulate scientific ideas clearly and confidently.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Karuna Mehta.
Amidst tough competition, the students who emerged as winners were:
First position - Thamizhini Kadhiravan (V G)
Second position - Neil Robin (V D)
Third position - Ryan Thomas (V B) and Afsheen Sayeed Ahmed Halkarni (V E)
The event was coordinated by in-charges Ms. Karuna Mehta and Ms. Michelle Lee along with other teachers of the department. The Science Extempore Competition proved to be a resounding success. The Science Extempore Competition was a celebration of young minds' curiosity and their ability to communicate scientific ideas effectively. The event underscored the importance of fostering curiosity and critical thinking from an early age.
