Indian School Sohar celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm and spirit. The day began with a traditional prayer song that set a serene tone for the proceedings.
In honor of National Sports Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, a heartfelt tribute was paid to his memory. Major Dhyan Chand, often regarded as one of the greatest field hockey players of all time, is a source of inspiration for athletes across the nation. His contributions to Indian sports were highlighted, and students were reminded of his dedication and sportsmanship.
An inspiring speech was delivered, emphasizing the significance of sports in fostering physical fitness, teamwork, and discipline. The speech highlighted how sports play a crucial role in the holistic development of students and how Major Dhyan Chand's legacy continues to inspire young athletes.
Following the speech, the school witnessed a vibrant "Sports Mania". Students came forward dressed in colorful sports costumes representing different sports. This lively parade showcased the diversity of sports and the enthusiasm of students.
To reinforce the significance of the day, a quiz was conducted adding a fun and educational element to the celebrations.
The assembly concluded with encouraging words from the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, who commended the students for their active participation and enthusiasm. She reiterated the importance of sportsmanship, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence, urging students to integrate these values into their daily lives.
To add more fun to the day, a variety of sports events were conducted, featuring both indoor and outdoor activities for staff and students alike, further enhancing the spirit of teamwork and friendly competition. The winners were awarded with champions trophy.
