REDUCTION IN NATURAL DISASTERS

On 13th October 2024 Hawa Bint Yazid Government Girls School, Sohar organized a comprehensive programme to raise awareness about natural disaster reduction. The event aimed to educate students on the importance of preparedness and resilience in the face of natural disasters.

The programme featured a series of engaging activities, including guest speakers, presentations and exhibition.

Experts shared their insights on disaster response and recovery. They highlighted recent case studies in Oman and the importance of community involvement in disaster planning.

Students from Indian School Sohar delivered a PowerPoint presentation on natural disasters and steps which can be taken to reduce the impact.

The participants were Pakhi Chaubey, Agnes Liza Emmanuel, Swayamshree Meher, Ananya Sharma and Azba Mahaviyah Rangunwala.

The presentation was appreciated by the audience.

Ms. Soumya Sajeev, Science teacher played a vital role in organizing and facilitating these students. The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma  actively supported the initiative, emphasizing the importance of such programmes in fostering a culture of safety and awareness within the school community.

The active participation of students and the expertise of guest speakers contributed to a fruitful learning experience. It is essential to continue such initiatives to empower future generations in the face of natural challenges.
