Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day is celebrated on October 31st every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and first Home Minister from 1947 to 1950.
The day is observed to recognise his contribution towards India’s Independence and unity. The prime reason behind the celebrations of National Unity Day is to boost the nation’s unity and spread awareness about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's contribution to the country.
On October 30, 2024 Indian School Sohar celebrated National Unity Day with a series of inspiring activities, fostering a spirit of national solidarity and patriotism. The day began with a vibrant dance performance that represented the diversity of Indian culture, illustrating the beauty of unity in diversity.
Following the performance, Shiva Jishi of XII C presented a heartfelt self-composed poem emphasizing the theme of unity, filling the atmosphere with a sense of pride and camaraderie. Additionally, a speech was delivered by one of the students, highlighting the significance of National Unity Day and the importance of coming together as one nation.
The event was a great success, instilling in all participants a deeper appreciation for the strength that lies in unity.
The assembly ended with inspiring and reflective words delivered by the Principal, Ms Sanchita Verma.
The school community left the event feeling motivated and inspired to contribute to a more united and harmonious society.
