CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION

04-11-2024

As an integral part of students’ learning journey, Indian School Sohar conducted a Career Counselling Session on “Future-Proof Career Decisions" on October 27th, 2024, in the School Auditorium. The session was led by Mr. Shalabh Jakhetia and Ms. Ankita Jakhetia, who brought valuable insights into various career paths and strategies for future planning.

Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma delivered the welcome speech and introduced the esteemed speakers of the session. Mr. Santhosh Kumar and Ms. Sabira Seni, the school’s Career Counselling in-charges, anchored the event and ensured the smooth conduct of the session. The session offered valuable insights into future career options and proved highly informative for both students and parents, assisting them in making well-informed career decisions.

The programme was conducted in two sessions for both students and parents:

Students’ Session

The morning session was organized for students from Classes IX to XII. The speakers encouraged students about self-awareness and emphasized the value of adaptability and lifelong learning in a rapidly changing world. The concept of 16 Career Clusters was introduced as a framework outlining key career categories, providing a roadmap for students to explore various fields. Each cluster included multiple roles to help students find options that matched their interests. This was followed by an interactive session.

Parents’ Session

During the evening session, the speakers encouraged the parents to focus on supporting their children in career exploration. The parents were encouraged to know their children and their interests and guide them according to their unique strengths and aspirations. In the Q&A session, parents cleared their doubts on various topics related to career planning, education pathways, and skill development.

Both students and parents gained valuable insights that will help in making thoughtful and informed career decisions. The session concluded with a heartfelt expression of gratitude from the members of the school's career counselling team.
