The Investiture Ceremony at Indian School Sohar embodies the school's commitment to nurturing leadership qualities among students and engaging them in the governance process. Held on May 19th, 2024, the ceremony marked the official induction of the new Student Council, empowering them with responsibilities and authority. Dr. Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al -Ajmi, Assistant Director of the Private Schools Department, General Directorate of Education, North Al Batinah Governorate and Saeed Mohammed Al-Raisi, Supervisor of International Schools, General Directorate of Education, North Al Batinah Governorate, graced the event as Chief Guest and special guest, respectively, lending significance to the occasion. Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma welcomed the gathering and commended the Selection Panel for their efforts. She stated that the Investiture Ceremony is not only to congratulate the new Council, but to celebrate the whole student community who are capable to be the leaders one way or the other. Addressing the student community, she posed a thought-provoking question, “Are you an inspiring student?”, challenging students to reflect on their capacity to inspire. She said that the river of knowledge is being open for them and what matters is how big a vessel they carry to fill from it, emphasizing the entry of students into the realm of knowledge and the importance of their receptiveness and capacity to learn and grow.
The Council Members were introduced and adorned with badges by the Guests and the Principal. The symbolism of the badges conferred underscores the official status and roles of the Council Members as leaders within the student body. The Principal administered the oath thereafter. Through this oath-taking ceremony, the Council Members pledged to uphold the values and integrity of the school, affirming their commitment to fulfilling their duties conscientiously and ethically taking the school to newer heights and resplendence. The Chief Guest extended congratulations to the Council and encouraged them to excel in their roles, emphasizing the importance of embracing the challenges ahead with determination and dedication. The School Captain, 2023-2024, Nitin Kishore, in his Felicitation speech, asserted that leadership is not about power and authority, but about service and inspiration and advised the New Student Council to embrace it with humility and courage and go ahead with optimism and courage. He also congratulated his team for their hard work and commitment.
The simple but solemn ceremony came to an end with the School Captain (Boys), Arnav Naroth Santhosh, expressing their gratitude for endowing them with the responsibilities of these prestigious posts and assured to be mindful of the expectation, and proposing the vote of thanks. With the prayer not for a lighter load, but for a strong shoulder, the new Council took up their responsibility. The predominant passion, vibrant vision and insatiable zest reflected their strong determination to lead their School towards the zenith of splendour.
In essence, the Investiture Ceremony at Indian School Sohar signifies more than just a formal event; it represents a significant milestone in shaping the character and leadership qualities of the school's future leaders, fostering a culture of integrity, responsibility, and community engagement for a promising educational journey ahead.
