On World Bicycle Day, the Physical Education Department of Indian School Sohar organized Bicycle Rally, Bicycle Stunts and Slow Bicycle Race to highlight the importance of cycling for transportation, health, and the environment. World Bicycle Day, observed on June 3rd every year, aims to promote cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transport.
During the event, the Sports Captains of the school shared the benefits and safety aspects of cycling to support and create awareness on the importance of physical activities. Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing that cycling is not just a mode of transportation but an activity that connects us with nature, promotes a healthier lifestyle, and contributes to a cleaner and greener environment. She also flagged off a bicycle rally, which was enthusiastically enjoyed by the Vice-Principal, Assistant Vice-Principal, and participating cyclists from the school in campus.
The Slow Bicycle race competition was organized for students and teachers added excitement to the event. Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma congratulated the winners and runners-up of the slow cycle race and presented them with trophies. By choosing bicycles as a preferred means of transportation, participants were reminded of the significant positive impact they can make on their lives and the communities they live in.
