Storytelling is a fundamental part of human experience. It allows us to share information in ways that create emotional connections making the message more memorable. It is said that “the purpose of a storyteller is not to tell us how to think but to give us questions to think upon.” It brings language learning to life creating a participatory and immersive experience.
To encourage a love for the stories, the Kindergarten section of Indian School Sohar conducted a Story Telling Competition for UKG students on 13th February 2025.
The event featured fifteen enthusiastic finalists who narrated stories such as ‘The Ugly Tree’, ‘The Mountain and the River’, ‘The Thirsty Crow’, The Hare and the Tortoise’ etc. The children captivated the audience with their facial expressions and voice modulation bringing the stories to life. Each story concluded with a moral that highlighted important life values.
Ms. Dipti Baliga was the teacher-in-charge of the Competition. The judges, Ms. Sherly Joseph, Ms. Prajitha Sunil and Ms. Alma Joseph appreciated and applauded the children for their passion, creativity, and unique perspectives that brought each story to life, captivating their hearts and minds..
The competition successfully conveyed powerful messages of love, kindness, and universal brotherhood and ignited passion for literature, storytelling, and communication, supporting overall academic growth while kindling a love for the art of storytelling.
