ABIS MODEL UNITED NATIONS

07-05-2025

Twelve students from Indian School Sohar participated in the Model United Nations hosted by Al Batinah International School on 25 April 2025. Under the guidance of Mr. Rajasekaran (HOD Social Science) and support from faculty members Mr. Aftab Alam, Ms. Navjot Kaur, and Ms. Megha Trivedi, they represented various countries on the theme “Expansion of BRICS.”

The event began with a welcome address by the host school’s Principal, Mr. Dominic Robeau, followed by the opening speeches where delegates stated their country’s stance. During the unmoderated caucus, participants collaborated to draft resolutions. Formal debate in the second half saw delegates critically analyzing and defending these resolutions.

The students’ in-depth preparation and confident public speaking stood out. Joel Joshy (Japan) was awarded Best Delegate, while Anushree Polai (Malaysia) received an Honourable Mention. All participants received certificates of participation.

This event offered a valuable platform for intercultural exchange and real-world diplomatic engagement. Through intense discussions and problem-solving, students gained practical insights into global affairs, diplomacy, and collaboration experiences that will greatly benefit their academic and professional growth.
