Oman celebrates Environment Day on January 8th each year. This day highlights the Sultanate's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. In recent years, Oman has made significant strides in various areas of environmental protection, including pollution control, biodiversity conservation, climate action, and public engagement.
In recognition of this important day, the Eco Club of Indian School Sohar invited the staff and students to celebrate this day by planting sapling in the school premises on January 8, 2025.
The occasion was inaugurated by the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma along with the Vice-Principal, Mr. Yashvir Singh, Asst. Vice-Principal, Ms. Indira Sukumaran and teachers.
During the event, the Principal, planted the sapling and encouraged students to take responsibility for the environment and contribute actively to the ongoing efforts towards a greener and more sustainable future.
Students had the opportunity to gain hands - on experience in planting saplings under the guidance of teachers, which provided them with the valuable lesson on environment.
The members and volunteers of the club urged everyone to consider how to bring about changes in everyday life in order to improve the quality of the environment and promote conservation.
Oman Environment Day serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving natural resources and promoting a greener future. It is a day to celebrate progress and recommit to environmental stewardship.
