Sports Day is a vibrant and exhilarating highlight for Kindergarten students, filled with opportunities for physical activities and essential life skill development. The activities are invaluable, offering more than just physical benefits. These activities enhance teamwork, boost self-esteem, and teach important life lessons in a fun and engaging environment. By participating, children improve their physical abilities and develop social skills and a positive attitude towards challenges and teamwork, making Sports Day a crucial and memorable part of their early education.
Hence, to ignite the spirit of sportsmanship among the budding stars, Indian School Sohar, ventured into various sports events on 8th February 2025 on the occasion of “Kindergarten Sports Fun Day” with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The event took place on the school's spacious football pitch. Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma graced the occasion. Vice Principal, Mr. Yashvir Singh, Assistant Vice Principal, Ms. Indira Sukumaran, HoD Physical Education, Mr. Kamal Gurung, PE staff, and the teachers of KG-II also joined the event to motivate the kids. A large sitting arena was arranged for the parents and students to sit and enjoy the event.
The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma declared the Sports Fun Day ‘OPEN’ and released balloons into the air. The Principal addressed the gathering with her motivational words. The mascots of the Kindergarten Sports Fun Day, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, were the attraction of the day.
The audience were thrilled to watch the dazzling stars present a spellbinding Handkerchief Drill. The budding sports stars (finalists) participated in their respective races with zeal and vigor. It was a delight to see the excitement with which children challenged themselves to compete in a variety of races and fun games. With colourful disc-shaped hats and bright sporty outfits, LKG girls shone in the exciting Collect the Disc Race. In the Hop and Grab Race, it was amazing to watch the little LKG boys in their grasshopper headgears move ahead in a vibrant atmosphere. By using a stick, UKG girls stacked and dragged the cones carefully to the finishing line in the Cone and Stick Race. Showcasing their jumping skills, UKG boys hopped to victory in the energetic Frog Race. The 25 metre track races for the tiny tots were very nostalgic and a visual treat for all. Children participated with great enthusiasm and proved their mettle.
To strengthen the family bonding and team spirit, Family Relay was organized where the parents got an opportunity to prove their unity, physical fitness and enjoy the games. The HPE department had arranged bouncy and recreational games for the parents and students. Fun games like Roll a Ball by Mr. Nikhil More, Balloon Blast by Mr. Niyas Ali and Target the Octopus by Ms. Murugeshwari were also a part of the Sports Fun Day. The achievements of the little stars and all the winners were honoured by the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma by presenting medals.
The rollicking event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Ms. Sushama Chopde. It was a day brimming with joy, innocence, and purity. The smiles of contentment on the faces of kids and parents spoke volumes about the success of the event.
