On May 29, 2025, the Physical Education Department of Indian School Sohar hosted "SPORTAMANIA 2025," a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and community spirit. The event brought together 130 participants, including alumni, teachers, students, volunteers and officials, fostering a sense of unity and enthusiasm.
The festivities commenced with a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented to the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, warmly greeted by "Shera," the event mascot. Mr. Ajay Damani, Treasurer, SMC and Vice Principal Mr. Yashvir Singh were also present to grace the occasion.
In her opening address, she extended a heartfelt welcome to all parents, teachers and alumni, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good health and physical fitness. She commended the efforts of the Physical Education Department, led by HOD (P.E. & Sports) Mr. Kamal Prasad Gurung, for orchestrating such a grand initiative. Following her motivating talk, she declared the meet open. The highlight of the evening was the introduction of participating teams, each showcasing skills pertinent to their respective sports, captivating the audience with their demonstrations. Adding a technological flair, a "Shuttle Robot" was unveiled, designed to deliver shuttlecocks and basketball to referees, symbolizing the integration of innovation in sports.
The official commencement of Sportamania was marked by an exhilarating exhibition match between Principal, Sanchita Verma and Ms. Michelle Lee from the team of teachers, setting an energetic tone for the evening. The event featured a variety of games, including Basketball, Cricket, Football, and Badminton, held across designated playing areas. Alumni participants showcased their talents, expressing joy in reconnecting with the school community through this initiative.
Alumni team expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Principal and the Physical Education Department for the opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater through sports. The event allowed them to relive cherished memories, reunite with former teachers, and witness the growth of the school firsthand. Their participation not only rekindled old bonds but also strengthened the sense of community between past and present members of the school.
The event concluded with Principal, Sanchita Verma awarding medals to the winning teams, celebrating their achievements and the spirit of sportsmanship that Sportamania, 2025 embodied.
