A two-day workshop titled “Join the Dots for Foundational Stage” was conducted on 19th and 20th May 2025 to enhance teaching practices in early childhood education. The workshop was designed in alignment with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF)- Foundational Stage, aiming to support educators in delivering developmentally appropriate and joyful learning experiences.
The workshop was organized at Indian School Sohar by the Foundational Section . The in house resource persons were Ms. Sushama Chopde, Ms. Anusha Omar, Ms. Priya Gladson, Ms. Sonal H Ramaiya, and Ms. Greta D'Souza.
The session commenced with an insightful introduction to Panchakosha Vikas, highlighting the holistic five-fold development of children—physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual growth. This framework provided a strong philosophical foundation for the discussions that followed.
Educators were then introduced to the Panchaadi Model, a five-step experiential learning process that emphasizes real-life connections, play-based learning, and joyful engagement. This model underlines the importance of active learning and child-centric pedagogies.
A major focus of the workshop was on aligning Curriculum Goals and Competencies with clearly defined Learning Outcomes, ensuring smooth planning and effective classroom implementation. Emphasis was placed on creating seamless transitions from planning to practice.
Participants engaged in hands-on activities grounded in kinesthetic learning methodologies through the innovative approaches of KINOLEARN and KINOPHONICS. These activities showcased ways to make abstract concepts tangible and enjoyable for young learners.
The workshop also guided educators in developing cost-effective, activity-based learning resources using easily accessible materials. The activities emphasized inclusion, creativity, and the creation of meaningful classroom experiences that cater to diverse learner needs.
Throughout the sessions, all activities were deliberately linked to educational goals, highlighting the importance of reflective and intentional planning. The collaborative environment encouraged peer learning, boosted teacher confidence, and inspired innovative classroom practices.
The workshop concluded with a comprehensive review, reinforcing the critical connection between planning, execution, and reflection in delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for the foundational stage.
