Indian School Sohar achieved a significant milestone in the development of the school on 15th August 2025 with the grand inauguration of its AI & Robotics Lab, a significant step towards equipping students with futuristic skills. The inauguration was officiated by Mr. Abraham George, President of the School Managing Committee, in the presence of the SMC members, Mr. Ajay Damani, Mr. Amit Shah and Mr. Naveen Kumar, Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma, whose vision and constant encouragement made this transformative initiative possible. The programme commenced with the ceremonial digital door access by the Chief Guest, Mr. Abraham George, symbolizing the technological essence of the occasion, followed by a guided tour of the newly established AI & Robotics Lab.
The robot Syntra warmly welcomed and expertly escorted the guests and dignitaries to the venue, setting an impressive and inviting atmosphere. Dressed in the school uniform, Syntra served as the charming anchor of the entire event. As Mr. George unveiled the lab by pressing the enter button, an electrifying wave of excitement swept through the audience, heightening the anticipation in the air. A major highlight of the event was the AI Project Exhibition. The diverse array of projects presented by the students showcased their creativity, ingenuity, and the knowledge they have gained in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics. Each project added to the vibrancy of the event, illustrating their hard work and passion. Classes I and II presented live models using an Intelligent Smart Stick designed to assist the visually impaired. Students from Classes III to V introduced the Flour Mill Safety Circuit and Washing Machine Safety Circuit, featuring mechanisms that enhance safety. In Class VI, students showcased a Smart Home Automation System that enables AI-driven control of household appliances for improved energy efficiency. Class VII introduced the AI Buzzer System, designed for rapid detection and alerts in critical situations. Class VIII demonstrated an AI-based Irrigation System that optimizes water usage in smart farming through soil moisture sensors and AI algorithms. Class IX presented the AI Driver Safety Vision System, which detects drowsiness and distractions in drivers, and the Car Front Impact Prevention System, employing AI sensors to activate automatic braking in the presence of obstacles. The LIMB II (Life Inspired Mechanical Bot – Version 2), a robotic arm capable of mimicking human movements with AI precision, was also introduced by them. Class X focused on the Dam Overflow Detection & Alarm System, a monitoring model that issues alerts when water levels exceed safe limits, alongside the Smart Blind Stick (Advanced Version), equipped with GPS and AI-based object detection for enhanced navigation support for the visually impaired. Class XI showcased Snow Bloom, an AI-controlled greenhouse project demonstrating sustainable plant growth in extreme cold conditions, and a Functional 3D Printer demonstrated how AI integration enhances precision and customization in additive manufacturing. The demonstrations captivated the audience and highlighted the immense potential of our young innovators.
The newly established AI Lab is equipped with cutting-edge tools, robotics kits, coding platforms, and AI resources, enabling students to gain practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, and Smart Systems. The inauguration not only marked the opening of a new technological frontier for the school but also inspired students to explore and harness the power of technology for the betterment of society. This venture is a testimony to the commitment of Indian School Sohar in embracing modern technology and nurturing the next generation of thinkers and problem solvers, equipping them with the skills and tools necessary to navigate an increasingly digital world. On the whole, it was a pivotal step for students to thrive in the digital age.
