“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” Imbibing the spirit of these inspiring words of Albert Einstein, Indian School Sohar conducted the Final Round of the Inter-House Quick Brain Contest, 2025–26 for Classes VI to VIII in the Recreation Hall on 20th August, 2025. This event marked the first-ever Inter-House Mathematics Quick Brain Contest for the middle school segment, featuring an innovative combination of online and offline rounds.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Indira Sukumaran, Asst. Vice-Principal and Head of the Mathematics Department, followed by the introduction of the
In-Charge teachers Ms. Infancy Jermila Rani, Ms. Shalini Nair, Ms. Subhadra Sikha, Ms. Thasni Thajudeen , Mr. Maijo Varghese, Ms. Radhikha and the four participating teams of Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow Houses. A total of 262 students appeared for the online preliminary round and 12 top scorers qualified for the grand finale. The contest featured four intellectually stimulating rounds: the Picture Round (Online) to test observation and analytical skills, Rapid Fire Round to assess accuracy, speed, and presence of mind, Buzzer Round to encourage quick thinking and team coordination and Activity Round to highlight problem-solving, creativity, and real-life application of Mathematics.
Audience interaction rounds were conducted between the main rounds, ensuring lively participation and enthusiasm throughout the event. After every round, digital score displays kept the audience updated, while the finalists were commended for their teamwork, time management, and mathematical proficiency. The programme was anchored by student volunteers and coordinated under the supervision of the Mathematics Department. The Quiz Masters, Scorers, Time Moderator, and Activity Judges ensured a seamless execution of the competition.
A special address by the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, was the highlight of the day. She lauded the remarkable efforts of the students and teachers in making the event a grand success and motivated everyone to strive for excellence not only in academics but also in co-curricular pursuits. The Result Declaration and Prize Distribution Ceremony concluded the event. Red House emerged Champions with 88 points, receiving the Winners' Trophy. Yellow House secured the First Runner-Up position with 87 points, receiving the Runners-Up Trophy. Blue House and Green House, scoring 50 points each, jointly held third position and were awarded Certificates of Participation.
The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Shalini Nair, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, staff members, participants, and students for their wholehearted support. The Quick Brain Contest 2025–26 proved to be a memorable and inspiring event, successfully blending knowledge, skills, teamwork, and fun, leaving participants and audience alike motivated to excel further.
