Colouring is one of the most enjoyable early childhood activities. It also plays an important role in a child’s overall development. Engaging in colouring helps children develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and grip control. It stimulates creativity, sharpens focus, improves concentration, and encourages self-expression. Moreover, colouring gives children a sense of achievement and confidence when they see their imagination come alive on paper.
With this objective, Indian School Sohar organized a vibrant Colouring Competition for our LKG and UKG children on 21st August 2025.
The little ones of LKG were given a picture of a cap to colour. It was heartwarming to see their tiny hands carefully holding crayons and confidently filling the picture with a burst of cheerful colours. Each cap reflected the child’s unique imagination- some bright and bold, others soft and pastel. The activity not only brought smiles to their faces but also helped them explore the joy of creativity.
The UKG children were provided with a picture of a hot air balloon. Their colourful balloons seemed ready to float high in the sky, carrying dreams, happiness, and the spirit of childhood. The children used a variety of colours and patterns, turning the balloons into imaginative artworks that showcased their growing sense of creativity and confidence.
The competition was judged by Ms. Kashifa Anjum, Ms. Sushama Chopde and Ms. Shagufta Shahin who had the delightful yet challenging task of selecting the winners from among the many wonderful entries. After much appreciation and admiration for all participants, the winners were announced as follows:
