More than 100 Students to leave for NASA visit.

A group of more than 100  students of Indian School Sohar, accompanied by their Principal and teachers  will be off on an educational tour to National Aeronautics and Space administration (NASA)’s prestigious Kennedy Space Centre in Orlando, United States, as part of the school’s educational programme during the summer vacations of academic session 2015-16.

Due to the overwhelming response, the students have been divided into three teams. The first team of 41 students led by the Principal Mrs. SanchitaVerma and teachers Mrs.Divya Johari and Mr.Kamal Gurang will leave on 30th May, 2015 for Amsterdam from where they will head to the US. Over the 11 days, they will participate in a Nasa certification programme on space science.The second group of 26 students and third group of 34 students will fly on 1st June led by Vice-Principal Dr.Vinu Kumar and teachers Mrs.Nisha Aravind, Mrs. Indira Vinod and Mrs. Smitha Mishra.

Talking about the trip the Principal said, “The aim of this tour is not only to enlighten the students with the latest aspects of science and technology but also to educate them about the cultural and regional diversity. We also want our students to get international exposure, which will help them in the future.

This unique venture taken up for the first time by the school, has been highly appreciated by the parents and students. Many interactive sessions were organized by the school in order to acquaint the students about the weather conditions, the various time zones they would be travelling through, diverse culture etc.

The excitement is palpable among the students, who are waiting eagerly for the trip to commence. “It will be an interactive session. We will get an opportunity to explore and learn new things. I am keen to learn how a space shuttle is made.” said Class IX student Sarthak Johari.“Children nowadays are exploring new career avenues and the Nasa trip will help them realize their dreams,” expressed many parents.

Organized in collaboration with Zahara Travels and Services Bureau, the students will also visit the world famous Universal Studios and Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, where the unforgettable thrills and magical experiences await at the all-new The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The other highlights of the trip are a visit to the famous Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Hershey’s Chocolate Factory, Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Washington DC, the iconic Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building in New York.

The teachers and the organizers are leaving no stone unturned to make this educational trip a fun filled learning experience for the students, the memories of which they will cherish in their life.
