The Physical Education Department of India School Sohar organized an Alumni Friendly Football and Basketball Match on 25 May 2026, headed by Mr. Kamal Gurung, Head of the Physical Education Department. The event aimed to strengthen the bond between former students and the present school teams while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition.
The matches provided alumni members with an opportunity to relive and cherish their school memories. Alumni team captain Deepu Murali expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Physical Education Department for organizing such a memorable event. He mentioned that the event allowed former students to reconnect with their alma mater and celebrate their shared passion for sports.
The friendly matches also proved beneficial for the current school teams, giving young players valuable exposure by competing against experienced former players. The students gained useful experience and received valuable guidance and tips in preparation for upcoming competitions.
The football tournament witnessed exciting performances from all teams. Alumni (Yellow) emerged as champions, while the U-19 Boys secured the runner-up position. Alumni (Red) and the U-17 Boys secured third and fourth positions respectively.
In basketball, the Alumni team displayed excellent coordination and teamwork to secure victory against the U-19 Boys. Adding a unique touch to the event, the match began with the robotic car bringing the ball to the center of the field to officially start the games.
Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma congratulated the Physical Education Department for successfully organizing the event and encouraged the department to conduct more such matches in the future to strengthen alumni connections and promote sporting excellence.
The event concluded on a positive note, celebrating sportsmanship, friendship, and a lasting bond between alumni and their alma mater.
