Sports Fun Day is a joyful celebration of energy and enthusiasm for kindergarten students and serves as an effective platform to instill important values such as teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Through active participation, children develop social skills and learn the importance of working together, making Sports Day a meaningful and memorable component of early childhood education.
To ignite the spirit of sportsmanship among the budding stars of Indian School Sohar, a variety of sports events were organized on 7th February 2026 on the occasion of the “Kindergarten Sports Fun Day”. The event was conducted with great zeal, excitement, and a frolicsome atmosphere on the school ground.
The occasion was graced by the Treasurer, School Managing Committee, Mr. Ajay Damani, the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, along with the Vice Principal, Mr. Yashvir Singh, the Headmistress, Ms. Sheenam Samuel, the Ms. S. Chitra, Supervisor KG-II, the Head of the Department of Physical Education, Mr. Kamal Gurung, the Physical Education staff, and the teachers of Nursery-II, who encouraged and motivated the young participants. A large seating arena was arranged to accommodate parents and students, enabling them to comfortably witness and enjoy the event.
The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, along with the Treasurer of the SMC, Mr. Ajay Damani, officially released colourful balloons into the air to mark the beginning of the Sports Fun Day.
She addressed the gathering with inspiring and motivational words, encouraging the young participants to enjoy the day with enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Adding to the excitement, the mascots of the event, Mickey Mouse and Minie Mouse, captured everyone’s attention and became a star attraction.
A special feature of the celebration was the Costume Parade, where the children showcased a delightful array of themes. The young participants wore traditional costumes representing various Indian states, portrayed favourite cartoon and storybook characters, dressed as community helpers, and also displayed costumes of their own choice. The parade was met with enthusiastic applause from parents and teachers, reflecting the creativity, confidence, and joy of the children.
The audience were thrilled to watch the dazzling stars perform a spellbinding Zumba drill, which received enthusiastic applause. Following this, the budding sports stars, who had qualified as finalists, participated in their respective races with energy and determination. It was a delight to witness the excitement and confidence with which the children challenged themselves across a variety of races and fun games.
The Kindergarten 25 m running race was conducted with great enthusiasm, where the young participants displayed energy, and joyful sportsmanship.
In the “Loop the Shapes” race, the LKG girls stole the spotlight with their colourful shape cutouts and bright sporty outfits. The LKG boys participated in the “Get Ready for School” race, running with enthusiasm and a spirit of healthy competition. The UKG girls showcased their understanding of healthy habits by completing a race in which they chose nutritious food items while avoiding junk food. The UKG boys demonstrated agility and courage as they navigated through a hurdle, carton box tunnel and hula hoops jumping, crawling, and running confidently to the finish line.
To strengthen family bonding and foster team spirit, a Family Relay was organized, giving parents the opportunity to demonstrate unity, physical fitness, and enjoy the games alongside their children. The HPE Department also arranged a variety of bouncy and recreational games for both parents and students. Fun-filled activities such as “Blow the Balloon” conducted by Mr. Niyas Ali and Ms. Vaishnavi M.S., “Stand a Bottle” by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, and “Ball in the Cup” by Mr. Sachin Ali added to the excitement of the Sports Fun Day.
The achievements of the young stars and all the winners were honoured by the Chief Guest, Principal, Vice-Principal, Headmistress, and Supervisor of KG-II, who presented medals to the children in recognition of their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The rollicking event concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Supervisor, Ms. S. Chitra. The day was filled with joy, innocence, and cheer, and the smiles and contentment on the faces of children and parents alike reflected the resounding success of the celebration.
