A Professional Development Programme was conducted by the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, for the staff members of Indian School Sohar on 29th March 2026 with the objective of strengthening teacher professionalism and enhancing school culture through effective conduct.
The session focused on defining the qualities and responsibilities of a professional teacher. It emphasized that teachers play a crucial role not only in academic instruction but also in shaping students’ values, behaviour, and discipline through their daily actions. The Principal highlighted that students constantly observe teachers, and even small actions significantly influence their learning and character development.
Various real-life scenarios were discussed to encourage reflection on current practices.The session also highlighted the importance of communication skills, professional boundaries, and teacher-parent interactions. Teachers were reminded that they always serve as role models for students.
The programme concluded by urging staff to commit to continuous improvement, maintain consistency in their behaviour, and uphold high professional standards. It emphasized that excellence in schools stems from the excellence of teachers and that a strong, positive school culture is achieved through the collective efforts of the entire staff.
