Indian School Sohar celebrated the 70th Independence Day with great patriotic spirit and fervour. The whole campus decorated with tricolour instilled patriotism in everyone. The chief Guest Mr. Abraham George, the President of School Managing Committee, accompanied by other SMC members, unfurled the National Flag. The opening speech by the principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, highlighted the significance of the day, throwing light on the initiatives taken by the government led by Shri Narendra Modi focussing on “Reform, Perform and Transform” under the programme “Azadi 70” Manas Vegi, the Cultural Captain of the school, inspired everyone through his speech to adhere to the ideals of those warriors who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Mother India and to become responsible citizens rendering honest service towards its unity and prosperity. The patriotic song presented by the tiny tots saluting Mahatma Gandhi complemented the brimming enthusiasm of one and all. The chief guest, Mr. Abraham George, President of the School Managing Committee then addressed the gathering and inspired one and all to think thankfully about the army men who contribute to the peaceful existence of the nation and have thereby made “this defining moment in each of our lives”. The dance performed on the Bollywood number” Indiawaale”, took everyone to the zenith of patriotism. Another group song presented by the school choir hailing the nation, left the whole crowd proud of their mother land. The function, effectively anchored by Shraddha Pravin, the Cultural Captain, ended with the National Anthem and distribution of sweets.
