An Adolescence Education Programme was organized in the school for the students of Classes VII and VIII on 25th October 2016, in co operation with the Life Line Hospital, Sohar. The seminar was held in two sessions, Class VII in first half and Class VIII in second half. This initiative was taken as an extension of the Life Skills Curriculum, being followed in the school.
The girls were addressed by Dr.Megha and the boys were addressed by Dr. Nagaraj in separate halls about the Challenges of Puberty and Coping with the Pressures of Adolescence. The underlying physiological principles were explained in detail through power point presentations and the various implications of this growth phase on the students’ lives were discussed. Queries and doubts were discussed in the end and personal consultation with the doctors was provided to the interested students.
The students were able to develop their knowledge as well as practical skills by means of this seminar. The session was then addressed by the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma. She emphasized the need to incorporate the newly gained knowledge into the students’ personal lives for a better hygiene and enhanced social adjustment. The session was concluded by the Supervisor, Mrs. Indira Sukumaran with the Vote of Thanks, extending to the Doctors, Life Line Hospital, the School Management Committee and the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma.
