ISS participated in the Mangalore Friends Sohar Cricket Tournament held on 11th February 2017. The Boys team won the trophy after defeating Pakistan School Sohar and Bangladesh School Sohar. Dhairya Thakkar and Captain Gaurav Pokra won the Man of the Match titles for the splendid show that they put up. The boy’s team has maintained its grip on the championship for five consecutive years, under the guidance of their coach Mr. Kamal Gurung, HOD, Physical Education Department.
The ladies team of the school bagged the Runners up trophy playing against Mangalore Friends ‘B’ team with a close shave in the finals. ISS Ladies had reached the finals after defeating Go Getters, Jindal Ladies and MCCS team by comfortable margins. Captain Mamta Thakur got the ‘Woman Player of the Match’ title in the match against MCCS and the rising star from Class VI C, Sakshi Shetty, got ‘Woman Player of the Match’ in the matches against Go Getters and Jindal Ladies. She was declared best batsman of the tournament.
Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma, boosted the morale of both the teams with her active presence on the venue. Her support and motivation added volumes to the wonderful performance. She congratulated the players for their unflinching commitment as both the teams promised to keep up the good show in the future too. The School Management Committee also congratulated the school teams and lauded their efforts in bringing glory to the school.
