The National Sports Day Celebrations at Indian School Sohar started when the Principal paid a Floral Tribute to the portrait of Major Dhyan Chand, who took India to the pinnacles of glory multiple times in the arena of International Hockey. The Special Assembly highlighted the importance of sports and games as well as the relevance of National Sports Day. Moreover, the speech of Fiza Faizal accentuated the great contributions of Dhyan Chand. She enthused the students to go ahead in life with a dream, desire and vision like this great national hero. The Principal Mrs. Sanchita Verma appreciated the initiative and effort of the Physical Education Department. She advised the students to be responsible and to develop an outstanding personality.
Physical Education Department organized Fun with Games to mark the occasion. Various events included Football Match, Throw Ball and other Recreational Games. The Teachers, the Omani Staff and the Students were seen playing with true team spirit. The winners of various games were awarded prizes. The celebration of National Sports Day echoed both in the corridors and in the playground. The kids learnt a lot about true sportsmanship and the value of playing games.
