ISS CELEBRATES 47th OMAN NATIONAL DAY

Indian School Sohar celebrated the 47th Oman National Day with great enthusiasm and fervour to pay reverence toHis Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and pray for his good health and happiness. It was an occasion to be one with the people of Oman, to share their pride and to celebrate their day together. The special guests for the day, teachers and 14 students of Al Hambar Basic School, were received by the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma, Vice Principal, Dr. Vinu Kumar and Supervisor, Mrs. Indira Sukumaran.

The special morning assembly at ISS began with the prayer song. Thought for the day and news were presented in Arabic and in English which attracted the audience.  The enticing song by the students of ISS hailing His Majesty and praising the people of the friendly, peace loving nation was apt enough to fill pride and patriotism in the minds of the people. The tiny tots of the guest school danced mesmerizingly to the tunes of a patriotic song. They enthralled the audience with their graceful movements. The Omani staff at ISS participated in the assembly with great enthusiasm, reflecting their love for and sincerity towards their Motherland. The melodious song they sang reflected their zeal and passion.  The quiz enriched the students’ knowledge about the culture, tradition and history of this great nation.

The Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma, presented a memento to Al Hambar Basic School as a token of goodwill. The teachers of the guest school were given special gifts and the students received certificates. The Omani Staff at ISS were pinned with National Day Badges. Principal, then addressed the gathering and congratulated the people of this welcoming country, which takes everybody under its wings with warmth and peace. She extended best wishes to the visionary leader on his birthday on behalf of ISS and prayed for his health, happiness and long life. She inspired the students to contribute towards the prosperity of the country by keeping its environment clean and green. Mrs. Indira Sukumaran proposed the vote of thanks in English where as Mr. Ilyas, the Arabic teacher, expressed gratitude in Arabic.The School and the stage beset with posters and flags in the tricolor seemed to extend its hearty greetings for the prosperity and peace of the nation and its people.
