The young minds of the Primary Section of Indian School Sohar presented their Annual Exhibition, Spectrum -2018 on 31st January and 1st February, 2018. The impressive exhibition focused on ingraining a scientific and creative attitude in the young students to make them comprehend the interdependence of science, technology and society by a hands-on experience. The students came up with creative and unique ways to exhibit each topic and were all excited to explain and illustrate their innovative ideas.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Ali bin Said Al Abdul Salam, Assistant Director for Administration, Finance and Projects, Ministry of Education inaugurated the show. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Ms. Fathima Abdullah Al Zaabi, Head of Pre-School Education, Ministry of Education, the President of SMC, Mr. Abraham George, Treasurer Mr. Rajesh Mehta and SMC members, Mr. Ajay Damani and Dr. Mahesh Mistry. The collaborative efforts and astounding creativity of students and the effective guidance of the teachers were recognized and appreciated by all.
The main attraction was the Centre Piece based on “Road Safety” initiated by Sureksha, the Safety Club of the school. The flash mob highlighted the motto of the school safety club, My Safety My Duty while creating awareness about road safety among the students and the public through their inspiring performance. When The world of Poetry & Language took the spectators to the world of imagination and intuition, Incredible India and Glimpses of Oman traversed them into the real world of mystic beauty. A Rainbow of Creativity, the Art Wing gave a profuse expression of the skill of the budding artists of ISS. Eureka displayed innovative models based on various scientific concepts whereas Mesmerizing & Marvelous Mathematics just inspired one to have a tryst with the brain. The Universe and Pioneers of Indian Freedom enabled the viewers to have a glimpse of historical and geographical facts. Sahitya Vatika laid bare the mesmerizing beauty of our national language and its profound literature. Mobile Computing presented today’s technology, its wonder and benefits. The confidence and zeal of the students while presenting and explaining their models or exhibits was noteworthy.
The Tiny Tots of KG to Std. II displayed Activities based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory and gained the attention and appreciation. Through their exhibits at various sectors like Save animals, Food is Fuel, Wheels of Life, Let’s Eat Right, Let’s Read, Home Sweet Home, On the Move, Style It Up etc., they explored the different aspects of our life in their own simple and sweet ways. The guests were very much impressed with the wonderful exhibits of KG kids created during the routine activity classes. They were fascinated to witness the enthusiasm of the students to learn new ideas, and their skill to handle new concepts with ease. The live performance by the school choir with soothing melodies was a real treat and great entertainment. The special performances by the students, teachers and parents added vigour and life to Dhwani, the musical show.
The President of School Management Committee, the members of SMC and the Principal Mrs. Sanchita Verma appreciated the effort of students and teachers and also thanked the parents for their cooperation to make the event a grand success. Mr. Abraham George congratulated the Principal and the team on such pioneering, inclusive and imaginative work culminating in the brilliant exhibition. Everyone felt it extraordinary to have the five to ten-year-olds talk with such passion and knowledge. “This was a creative journey of discovery, a reminder that, when children are given a voice and listened to, they are able to rise to challenges, be imaginative and succeed”. That is what made the exhibition exciting and hugely successful.
