INDIAN SCHOOL SOHAR CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA

The Health & Wellness Club of Indian School Sohar celebrated the International Day of Yoga, which is observed on 21st June every year globally with the aim to raise awareness to the many benefits of practicing yoga.

The school recognizes the need to bring about a holistic approach to health and well-being among the students and teachers and hence they practice regularly during their respective PE period in order to achieve equilibrium between mind and body.

Indian School Sohar organized various sessions of Yoga on 14th May 2018 for students and teachers. They perfectly executed the different postures of the 'Surya Namaskar’ and other asanas. The students participated in this program enthusiastically under the guidance of their P.E teachers and yoga volunteers. They especially enjoyed the sessions on Laughter Yoga.

Principal Mrs. Sanchita Verma, appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers and urged them to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine. She said, “Yoga has the power of healing up mental traumas and other bodily ailments. It leads to better concentration of mind and makes our body healthy and disease free by fighting bacterial infection and raising immunity in our body.”

Vice-Principal Dr. Vinu Kumar, while talking to the students, stressed on the importance of inculcating yoga in daily life and said, “Yoga is an effective tool for children and adults to deal with stress and brings a balance to one’s body and soul.”

The participants understood the importance of yoga as a symbol of universal aspiration for health and well-being rejuvenating the mental and physical energies thus marking the success of the day.
