Indian school Sohar Girl’s cricket team participated and emerged winner in the Friendi Mobile–Cricket Summer Cup held on 4th May 2018 at Al Ghubra power plant, Organized by Jazz Boyz Cricket Club, Muscat.
ISWK Seniors and juniors, ISM Rockers, ISG Avengers, Waljat Vipers and Indian School Sohar participated in the tournament. In the finals ISS defeated ISM comfortably. Balling first the team restricted ISM to only 36 runs in 5 overs. Both the openers Sakshi and Umaima chased the target without losing the wicket in four overs’.
Sakshi Shetty, team captain played a wonderful innings and became women of the match in all three matches. Other team members supported and displayed fantastic skills of bowling, batting and fielding. Sakshi Shetty was declared ‘women of the series’ won a Home Theatre/Friendi Sim/1 year free internet/recharge card. Zaynah Ashraf was declared ‘best wicket keeper ‘School team also won ‘best dressed team trophy’.
Under the able guidance and coaching of the Team Coach Mr.Kamal Prasad Gurung, the Girls participated for the first time in any competition and they came up with the flying colours. He congratulated the organizers for the wonderful tournament, especially Vaishali Jasrani, Women coordinator Oman cricket and Mr. Vinu Mathew for giving the opportunity and platform for the young Girl cricketers in Oman.
Principal, Sanchita Verma congratulated the teams and appreciated the efforts and hard work done by them.
