KHADI  RULED THE RAMP AS A TRIBUTE TO BAPU@150 IN SPECTRUM - 2018

To tally with its untiring pursuit to impart the concepts that lay bare to us the mysteries of this universe and of the chasms of the imaginary world of art and literature through creative demonstration, Indian School Sohar organised the Annual exhibition of the Senior School, Spectrum 2018 on 1st and 2nd November, reflecting the creativity, enthusiasm and innovative ideas of students. The gala event which saw the participation of classes VI to XII emerged as a thumping success.

The Chief Guest for the occasion Mr. Mohamed Mubarak Al-Saidi, Assistant Director General for Educational Evaluation, Educational Programmes for Private Schools, Ministry of education, North Al-Batinah Governorate inaugurated the show. The Exhibition was graced by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Ms. Rabab Hamdan Al Ajmi, Physics Supervisor, Ministry of Education along with the dignitaries from Ministry of Education. The presence of The President, School Managing Committee, Mr. Abraham George and the SMC Members Dr. Mahesh Mistry, Mr. Ajay Damani and Mr. Rajesh Mehta was quite encouraging.

The central model of the event was BAPU @150. which was a reverential dedication to the Father of our Nation on his 150th birth anniversary. The show promoted Khadi materials as a tribute to Gandhi’s ideal of using Swadeshi material. Gandhiji presented the spinning wheel and Khadi as a symbol of nationalism, equality and self-reliance. The Fashion Show screening Khadi clothes was an endeavour to create awareness among students, parents and teachers about the significance of Khadi to our nation. The students and teachers showed their elegance and style on the ramp during the ethnic round, saree round etc. The parents, students and teachers applauded this special event with lot of zeal, enthusiasm and respect.

With an endeavour to promote scientific attitude among budding young students, Science Department presented exhibits of intriguing techniques, fascinating inventions and compelling concepts.

 In the relentless pursuit to stir the mathematical expression of the students and to help them understand the basic elements of Mathematics, an array of projects, models and brainstorming games were presented.

The Social Science section exhibits provided an insight into the past, at the same time traversed us through the present too.

The Commerce wing through various exhibits depicted consumer-producer relationship. The students learnt the tricks of business through their sales in tuck shops.

  The Computer Science section exhibited the advanced technology through innovative working models and investigation based projects.

 The English section took the onlookers to a world of imagination. It traversed along the Mighty land of pen, the Magic world of Hogwarts with Harry Potter and his famous wizards and the Land of Fairies. They also showcased the budding poets and writers through the magazines published by them.

The Hindi section highlighted the various grammatical aspects of language and imparted knowledge of literature through interesting games, Antakshari, Folk dance, display of poems written by students and Live Poet’s Corner. The Malayalam wing offered special treat to Kerala’s cultural heritage and art forms. Live programs Gurukulam and Puppet Show were the highlights of Sanskrit wing. Wonderful models and library with Arabic names introduced the spectators to Arabic vocabulary.

Live Art Section was highly appreciated, for they provided first hand, ground-breaking and innovative art education. The special wing on special education created awareness about Inclusive Education.

The exhibition showcased work produced through a collaboration between teachers, students and parents. The effort and the innate talent of the students were appreciated by one and all. Each guest who walked into this alluring world was left dazzled by the enchanting exhibits that revealed the praiseworthy effort of the students. The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma congratulated the Staff and students for the spectacular, innovative and successful show.
