Indian School Sohar celebrated its 34th Annual Day in an awe-inspiring manner which was meticulously planned by the students and staff of the school on 5th February 2019 at the newly built recreational hall. The ceremonial function was graced by the presence of Mr. Mohammad Bin Ali Al Qutity, Assistant Director of the Department of Private Schools, Directorate General of Education, North Al-Batinah Governorate as the Chief Guest and Ms. Fathima Abdulla Al Zaabi, Head for Pre-School Education, Ministry of Education, North Al-Batinah Governorate as the Guest of Honour.
Head Boy, J Shravan delivered the welcome note and Mr. Abraham George, President of the SMC delivered an exhilarating speech. Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma took the audience through a journey of ISS from its incipience in 1982. She foregrounded the innovations and improvements made by the school in all aspects.
The evening was bounded by a show of talent, imagination and organization. The cultural bonanza was a visual delight for the audience which unveiled with the welcome dance “Namaste India”, capturing the searing fire and powerful energy of Indian dance. The Rainbow dance was indeed a colourful harmonic combination. Traditional Asian folk dance, The Peacock dance personated a muster of ravishing peacocks reminding the crowd of their beauty and swirling movements in its full glory.
The thoughtfulness of the kids also made them include a dance performance called Tik Tik Plastic on one of the major current threats of our time, plastic; prompting us to do the 4Rs-Refuse, Reuse, Reduce & Recycle. The Fusion Dance was an expedition to the land of backwaters and beaches which glorified the beauty of Kerala and pumped up the spirits of the audience.
The soothing choir, One World One Dream highlighted the whole mankind lives in the same world and seeks for the same dream and ideal. It was followed by a scintillating dance performance on the inspiring song Jay Jaykara which reminded everyone that the price of hard work is success. The evergreen fairy tale Snow White was depicted as a wonderful dance drama which enchanted the audience by its colourfulness and simplicity. Satyamev Jayate dance performed by the young minds was a power packed one. The tap dance Western Beats raised the heartbeats of many. The motivational Qawwali, O Sikander which gave the message of being a winner created a feeling of ecstasy. Salute to Motherland, a patriotic dance brought memories about much-loved motherland and a great sense of pride.
Vote of thanks was delivered by the Head girl, Manasvi More who expressed gratitude to everyone for their unrelenting support & cheer.
The festival dance Holiya Re brought a festive mood among everyone. The day wrapped up with a Rajasthani folk dance, Ghoomar giving an exotic vibrance. The venue reverberated with thunderous applause; gleaming faces exchanged appreciative nods as the audience witnessed the perfection and extravaganza of the show. The bedazzling performances were an unforgettable experience and left a lasting impression on the minds of everyone present.
