Indian School Sohar celebrated its Annual Day (KG – II ) on February 7, 2019 at the newly built magnificient Recreation Hall. The grand show began with the Royal Anthem of Oman and National Anthem of India followed by the welcome note by Head Boy, J Shravan. In his address to the audience, Mr. Abraham George, President, School Managing Committee , emphasised the crucial role to be played by the teachers in adopting a comprehensive curriculum that imparts knowledge, skills and discipline to the students. Also he stressed on the role to be played by parents as a correcting force in this era of technology, when the children are constantly under the influence of social media. In her Annual Report, Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma highlighted the achievements of the school since its inception and pointed out the milestones achieved during the last academic session.
The cultural event started with an enthralling welcome dance followed by thematic fashion show by the tiny tots of LKG depicting the concept of three R’s – REDUCE , REUSE , RECYCLE. The LKG Fashion Show with costumes made out of waste material spread the message “Save Mother Earth”. Various dances like the vibrant Goan dance, the Hindi action song ‘Eak bata dau’ showcasing Happy Family Happy Child , and the wonderfully synchronised Malayalam and Tamil folk dances left the audience mesmerized. Hindi action song ‘Tan….Tan…. Tan….. Suno ghanti baji school ki’ which depicted ‘Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan’- Education for all was indeed a spectacular display of talent and fervor. Fun filled Spanish dance and beats of the western dance left the audience enthused.
Head Girl , Manasvi More delivered the vote of thanks. The event came to an end with an energetic and vibrant grand finale with a folk presentation from the land of Punjab. The venue reverberated with thunderous applause of the audience who witnessed the extravagant show.
