SPELL BEE COMPETITION (III-V)

 A Spelling Bee Competition was organised on 25th April 2019 in Indian School Sohar. In the time and age of auto-correct, predictive text and spell check, the Spell Bee competition for classes III-V students came as a whiff of fresh breeze. The introduction of this competition has led to the development of the students’ skill in spelling and improving their vocabulary. This activity has also encouraged them to spell confidently in front of the audience. The competition was exclusively for the students of classes III-V. The final round of the competition was preceded by two more rounds. All students were given an equal opportunity to represent themselves in the preliminary rounds at the intra-class level. Students qualified by mastering words from a spelling list. There were several tie-breaker rounds for elimination in the second round. There were four teams which qualified for the final round. Each team had the students from classes III-V. In the final round the spellers faced three competitive rounds. ‘Spell the Word’; ‘Make New Words Round’; ‘Guess and Spell the Word’ are a few to mention. The third round in the final competition saw the Power Point Presentation. The competition generated a great deal of excitement. It was well received by the students. They participated with great enthusiasm delighting in each point they won for their teams.

The winners are – First Position - Team B - M A Aditya III-C, Sayed Shihaab IV-G and Abhinav Krishnan V-E

Second Position - Team D- Abhinav Jithish III-F, Dharmik Kumar IV-I and Zenin Shad V-I

Third Position - Team A- Suhana Suchithran III-A, Amina Fatima IV-B and Ashley Jacob V-A
