The girl cricketers of Indian School Sohar Sakshi Vijaya Shetty, Snehal Nair, Sanusha Acharya, Anshita Tiwari, Kirthyaa Vijayanand, Aleena Baiju and Pooja Kumari of Indian School Sohar participated in the T20 Women’s Cricket League Tournament organized by Oman Cricket for the season 2018-19. The girls displayed fantastic all-round performance and helped Women’s Cricket Sohar (WCS) to clinch the Women’s League title on account of a better run rate over the runner-up team, Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) for the second successive year. In its last league match against Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK), Sakshi Shetty scored 53 runs and bowled exceptionally well, taking two wickets for only 7 runs. Tight bowling and fielding were displayed by the other girls too.
Sakshi Vijaya Shetty scored 134 runs in 5 matches and took 3 important wickets. The 2 wickets taken by Snehal Nair and 1 wicket each Anshita and Sanusha also contributed profusely towards winning.
The girls were trained by the coach Mr.Kamal Prasad Gurung, HOD Physical Education.
The girls were felicitated at the spectacular Prize Distribution Ceremony attended by Oman Cricket Board Members and sponsors at Oman Cricket Academy (OCA) on Sunday, 7th April 2019. The prizes were awarded by the Guests of Honour Mr. Syed Anwar Ahsan, Mr. Kiran Asher and Mr. Chaitanya Gulabsi Khimji.
Ms. Sanchita Verma, Principal of Indian School Sohar congratulated the coach and the players for their outstanding achievement.
