YOUNG COMMUNITARIAN OF INDIAN SCHOOLS
BOOK DONATION DRIVE
“When you give someone a book, you don’t give him just paper, ink, and glue, you give him the possibility of a whole new world.” —Christopher Marley
Passing on your books to someone else is the simplest way to spread the spirit of reading. YCIS club of Indian School Sohar tried to bridge the gap between the elite young minds and the benevolent donors who actively participated in the book donation drive organized in the school from 18th to 21st March 2019.
The “Book donation” drive focused on lending a helping hand to the students who were in need of the academic books in particular. Through this scheme YCIS envisions to reach the students who wish to reuse these books, hence empowering the source of knowledge. As a pilot project it was carried out for classes of Middle School.
Many students and teachers donated and reused these books.
A library-section has been developed so that any student or teacher can periodically check and donate books to the organization.
Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma appreciated the new initiative taken up by YCIS members and congratulated the coordinator Ms. Indira S and teachers in-charge Ms. Anam , Ms. Shahnaz, Ms. Selvi and Ms. Perween for making the programme successful. The coordinator expressed gratitude for the complete support and guidance extended by the school and the Principal and also expressed the view to extend the book donation drive to other classes as well in the next session.
