BUDDY READING ACTIVITY FOR CLASS II

08-05-2019

“Reading is to the mind, what exercise is to the body.”

                                                                  -Joseph Addison

Buddy reading activity is a fun, personal and effective way to introduce the pleasures of reading to younger readers. This programme is an initiative where volunteers or senior students participate in a paired reading activity with younger students. The idea is to offer students reading time to improve their reading and comprehension skills and by extension their vocabulary and overall learning success.

A Buddy Reading Activity was conducted from 28-04-2019 to 30-04-2019 for class II in their respective library periods at Indian School Sohar. During this activity our students from class III to V participated with younger students and narrated the stories to them.

The students got the opportunity to develop a love for reading, improvement in fluency, boost in their confidence and a greater motivation to read. It was indeed  a fun learning experience for all.
