MATHEMATICS MODELING COMPETITION FOR CLASSES VI – VIII

A mathematical modeling competition was conducted by the Mathematics Department with great enthusiasm at Indian School Sohar on 23rd May, 2019. The Mathematics Department organized it for the Middle Section to provide a platform for the young minds to present their innovative and creative ideas.  It aimed at strengthening young minds and their abilities to represent, reason, communicate and solve problems put forth. The participants came forward with a bunch of innovative ideas paired with their cognitive thinking, and the models were presented with utmost interest. The judgement was based on content, explanation and presentation.

The students got an opportunity to learn more about the various concepts through their peer group and a healthy learning process was witnessed. Models added a new dimension to the mathematical principles taught in class. The competition had generated a lot of curiosity among the students, both participants and non-participants, and the response was a measure enough to testify its success.
