INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION - 2019

19-08-2019

“Freedom is not the right to do as we please, but it is the opportunity to do what is right”. This is what the exuberating mirth and brimming pride of the students during the Independence Day Celebration at Indian School Sohar tried to propagate. The school was adorned with tricolour balloons, flags, pictures of national symbols etc. The special assembly of the students to commemorate the day created an ambience of patriotism and celebrated this red-letter day of Indian History. The Chief Guest Mr. Ajay Damani, Joint Treasurer, School Managing Committee along with the Principal Mrs. Sanchita Verma and Vice-Principal Dr. Vinu Kumar were escorted on to the stage by the pilots.

The Principal welcomed the gathering and said that the freedom we enjoy is the culmination of the efforts and sacrifices made by our forefathers and India has traversed a long way in the path of success since 1947. She asserted that the whole mark of our identity is unity in diversity. She reinstated that we have proved our mettle in all fields and won all our battles assertively, not aggressively. She urged the youngsters that freedom without responsibility is chaos and advocated to shoulder the responsibilities sincerely and honestly so as to bring favourable changes and take the nation to the zenith of progress and prosperity.

The Cultural Captain Saumya Tiwari -XI A shared her views on the significance of the day. She pointed out that the beauty of India is its unity in spite of its diverse culture and that after 200 years of British rule, the India that has risen today hammers not just the nails to British rule but its setbacks, its intolerance and its dependence!  The junior School Choir set the pitch for the programme by singing the patriotic song Kadam kadam badaye ja, the inspiring call of Subhash Chandra Bose to his countrymen. The melodious rendering from the proud heart of the young Indians left every heart throbbing with patriotism and encouraged everyone to sacrifice everything for our incredible India, the most beautiful in the world. The senior choir sang the enthralling song Vande Mataram which set aflame love and honour for the country in the minds of the audience. The dances Desh Raag(classical) and Maro Desh Mahaan(folk) complemented the patriotic feeling and fervor.

The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. The whole school echoed with slogan of “Jai Hind”.  With freedom in the mind, faith in the words and pride in our souls we saluted the nation on the auspicious day. To conclude, it was a day to love and respect our country, a day to remind everyone to make India a better place upholding the age-old Indian creed “Vasudaiva Kudumbakam”. The compering of this special patriotic assesmbly was done by the Discipline Captain Pramite Premkumar – XI C.
