“Story telling is about connecting to other people and helping people to see what you see.”
-Michael Margolis
A wise man once said, “After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” It’s the stories that give wings to our imagination and take us to places beyond the boundaries of our physical world and into the land of fairies, dragons and wishing trees. It is in our imagination that we embrace things and situations that we shy away from real world. Since time immemorial, story telling has been an integral part of our childhood. To keep the tradition going and to incite curiosity and the love for reading in children, Hindi Story Telling Competition was organized for the students of grade IV and V at Indian School Sohar on 20th August 2019. The main objective of the competition was to develop self-confidence and public speaking skills in children. The preliminary round was conducted in the respective classes and as per the criteria; best three students from each section were selected for the final round. Each participant narrated a beautiful story with a moral value. Teen Baune, Chatur Dhobin, Sabr ka Phal Meetha, Jadui Phal, Patthar ke Khilone and Swami Vivekanand are some of the stories narrated by the students. The students participated in the competition zealously and impressed the judges with their confidence. They were adjudged on the basis of content, presentation, language and moral. The activity helped the students to inculcate good moral values, enhance their vocabulary and speaking skills. Ms. Kalpana Jha was the teacher in charge of the competition.
