ENGLISH POETRY RECITATION COMPETITION FOR CLASSES VI - VIII

“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thoughts had found its words”.

Taking the above into consideration, Indian School Sohar provided the students of Middle section (Classes VI – VIII) with an opportunity to exhibit their talent and recite a dramatic poem of their choice on 21st August 2019. An overwhelming number of students took part in the class wise selection round out of which 44 students participated in the final round of the competition.

Ms. Divya Johari, HOD English Department welcomed the gathering. The Principal Ms. Sanchita  gave all the participants a very motivating speech. She stated that “Poetry recitation is very important for young learners as it is a beautiful and effective way which facilitates the students to express. Poems makes you feel alive and brings you closer to life through your passion and vocal expression. It deepness the understanding of the language and enhances the public speaking skills of the students.” 

Students were judged on the parameters like voice modulation, rhythm, confidence and presentation. Judges appreciated and applauded the performance of the participants and hoped to see better performances in the future.
