Mental Maths is the process of doing mathematical calculations in your head, without the use of a calculator, abacus or even pen and paper. This is used in many walks of life outside the classroom. This unique format of competition gives an opportunity to solve maximum calculation based questions in stipulated time. The main objective of this competition was to make the students practice his/her mental calculation skills to achieve speed and greater level of accuracy. It helps students to gain confidence and develop interest in Maths and improves observation skills. Young children should be exposed to Mental Maths Competition as it plays a vital role in enhancing their confidence and competitive spirit.
To encourage the student to appear for various competitive examinations and create an urge and ambition to succeed from an early age, a Mental Maths competition was conducted in Indian School Sohar for the classes III and IV on 4th September 2019. Children participated enthusiastically and enjoyed a lot by solving the questions mentally. The Preliminary Round was the selection round which was conducted on 19th August 2019. The Activity Round was the second round. An overwhelming number of students participated from both classes III and IV in the second round which was conducted in two consecutive days 26th and 27th August. The Rapid Fire Round was the final round. It witnessed the selective participants from classes III and 1V. It was held on 4th September, 2019. The teacher in-charges for the competition were Ms. Alamelu Panneer and Ms. Infancy Jermila Rani. Congratulations to all the winners.
