Christmas is the most wonderful time of year with sparkling snowflakes and twinkling lights, happy carols and rosy cheeks, good cheer and warm fuzzy feelings. Christmas or the birth of Christ is celebrated throughout the world with fervour and activity. The much awaited festival of Christmas was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal in Indian School Sohar on 17th December 2019. A Special Assembly was conducted by the students of grade V- I. It was abuzz with yuletide spirits and packed with festivities to escort in the holiday season.
Prayer is key in the morning and lock during night. To invoke the blessings of God, the assembly commenced with the prayer song followed by the thought for the day. The students presented an array of interesting programmes. The school echoed with Christmas carols and holy hymns sung melodiously by the school choir ushering in the festive season. Traditional carols like Joy to the World, Jingle Bells, We wish you a Merry Christmas were sung by our young choir, getting everybody into the spirit of Christmas and its gaiety.
The students presented a thought provoking skit which emphasized that Christmas was more than just Santa, cards, toys or gifts under the Christmas tree. Mother Mary with the little Jesus in her hands, Father Joseph and the three kings who came to rejoice the birth of Jesus were portrayed in the tableau presented by the students. The children were filled with joy and excitement as Santa came dancing on Christmas songs. An informative speech on the importance of Christmas was delivered which contributed to the mood of the festival.
A mesmerizing dance sequence adorned the assembly which made it all the more special and merry. The colourful, dazzling and synchronized dance performance in which the Christmas tree, stars, bells and angels danced and entertained the young audience. It was really a visual treat for the spectators. The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, in the presence of the Vice-Principal, Dr. Vinu Kumar and the Section Supervisor, Ms. Alka Singh, awarded the certificates to the winners of various competitions such as “Quiz Me”, Maths Modelling, Tux Paint, English Elocution and English Poem Recitation. She addressed the gathering by reiterating that Christmas galvanizes us to spread goodness, joy and peace throughout. Addressing the gathering she also emphasized on helping parents in the household chores during winter vacation. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem. Ms. Infancy Jermila Rani was the teacher in charge of the assembly.
The message of the assembly was loud and clear--- Come let us embrace the spirit of Christmas by bringing joy and happiness into someone’s life.
