International Cricket Council (ICC) in association with Oman Cricket organized Germany-Oman Women’s T20 International Bilateral Series from 3rd February to 8th February 2020. This 5 Match bilateral series were played at Amerat’s picturesque grassy cricket ground. Three girl cricketers from Indian School Sohar namely Sakshi Vijaya Shetty (class IX), Snehal Nair (class X) and Anshita Tiwari (class VIII) participated in the event and emerged as Runners up making our school and Oman proud.
This series gave lot of international experience and exposure to the girls. The five-match series opened with a 35-over game which was followed by four T20 Internationals.
Oman Women won comfortably with 9-wicket over touring Germany in 35-over game. Set a target of 185 to win, Oman openers Fiza Javed (76 off 92) and Sakshi Vijaya Shetty (72 not out off 85) got their team off to a great start, putting together an amazing 177-run partnership that not only pushed the tourists on the back foot but out of the game too. Vice-captain Fiza struck 11 stylish fours while Sakshi whacked six solid boundaries in their match-winning alliance in 27.3 overs. Oman raced to victory nine balls later as Captain Vaishali Jesrani joined Sakshi on the crease to complete the formalities.
In T20i, Germany won the series by 4-0. Sakshi Vijaya Shetty scored 43 runs in the series and Snehal Nair was the most successful wicket taker for team Oman with four wickets.
