The first Online English Elocution Competition of Indian School Sohar was conducted on 26th August 2020 as a part of the year-long initiative to celebrate the Constitution Day of India 2020, which falls on 26th November. The students of classes IX & X participated with great enthusiasm and zeal. The virtual audience and the judges were mesmerized by the active participants with their vibrant oratory skills. The objective of the competition was to provide a wide platform for the young minds to develop confidence and showcase their oratory skills.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma, who greeted the audience and participants. The theme chosen for the day was “Life and contribution of Dr. B R Ambedkar” or “Fundamental Duties as Enshrined in the Constitution of India”. The students spoke eloquently on these topics and impressed the judges with their thoughtful insights and wide knowledge about the topic. Students were judged on the criteria of content, enunciation, presentation & confidence and overall impression. The speakers displayed confidence in presenting their views before the virtual audience and a panel of eminent Jury.
The contestants were applauded by the panel of adjudicators for their active participation. Acknowledging young energy and talent, some valuable advice was given to help them perform better in future. Ms. Sanchita Verma, the Principal, declared the results and congratulated all the winners and participants. Dr.Subadra Prabu, the School Counselor, moderated the program and it was well coordinated by Mrs. Divya Johari, the Head of English Department.
