THE FIRST – EVER VIRTUAL CELEBRATION
The first- ever virtual celebration of Indian School Sohar was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 15th August, 2020. The spirit of Independence Day came alive on the screen. The 74th Independence Day was celebrated virtually but the feel was real.
The auspicious occasion commenced with the rendition of the National Anthem with a visual depiction of art works done by the young and talented artists of IS Sohar. The National Anthem reverberated in the homes of all IS Sohar families, the message of commitment and love echoed through the air and the pledge to protect and cherish the Motherland silently renewed. The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, greeted the virtual audience, appealing to their nationalistic spirit and urged them to take pride in being an Indian and fulfilling one’s duty with responsibility. She also said that the freedom we enjoy is the culmination of the efforts and sacrifices made by our forefathers and India has traversed a long way in the path of success since 1947. She urged the younger generation to live up to the expectations of their motherland and encouraged them to work hard and become worthy and responsible citizens of the country.
A patriotic poem in Hindi was recited by Srishti Pandey of Class VIII, which was composed by Mr. Yashvir Singh, the Supervisor of Secondary Section, evoked in everyone present a sense of pride and devotion for the nation. This was followed by a musical rendition of patriotic song “Aisa Desh Hai Mera ……” by Ms. Vidhya Dhanil, Dept. of English. The overpowering tune mesmerized the gathering and left the audience imbued with a sense of patriotism. The emphatic speech in English by Shah Het Riteshkumar of Class XI amplified one's patriotic spirit. He shared his views on the significance of the day, developments that took place since 1947, the role of India during the pandemic Covid -19 etc. He highlighted the struggles and sacrifices made by the great Indian leaders. The scintillating dance performance by Mr. Manoj Kumar Dubey enthralled the audience with a true spirit of patriotism.
With freedom in the mind, faith in our hearts and pride in our souls we saluted the nation on the auspicious day. The programme ended with the song, “Hum Se Behtar Hum/ Aatma Nirbhar Bharat ……” the vision of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, of making India a self-reliant nation. Mr. Yashvir Singh, the Supervisor of Secondary Section, compered the programme which was well coordinated by Mr. Kamal Gurung, HOD Physical Education. The programme was enjoyed by everyone present as they left the platform with a renewed spirit of dedication to their motherland, as citizens of a great nation on the move, achieving ever greater heights.
