The students of Std. XI 2020-2021 of Indian School Sohar organized a dazzling and emotional farewell for their seniors, the outgoing Std. XII batch on the virtual platform. The day was a fiesta to reminisce joyous moments and was devoted to the years spent together with friends and teachers. It was the time for reflection, sentiments, expression of gratitude and ceremonial good bye.
In an emotionally surcharged atmosphere, the outgoing students were given a virtual onscreen welcome where the usual ramp walk was replaced by their exquisite snapshots flashing across the screen. Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. It was followed by games and cultural programmes for the students. There was scintillating dance, pulsating music and a video presentation depicting their cherished memories at ISS along with the loving messages from their teachers. The online games attracted much attention. The hosts impressed all showcasing their appreciable anchoring skills.
Three outgoing students, Saumya, Yagnik Saravaiya and Kalyani Mandar Bokil delivered their valedictory speeches sharing their experience at ISS. It was an occasion for the outgoing students to look back at the time that they spent in the school acquiring education for life. Students reminisced their fun-filled days in school and expressed how difficult it is for them to go out of the portals of their alma mater.
The Principal addressed the gathering and interacted with them getting and sharing views as to how they should overcome the crisis they are facing today and what make them better human beings. Her thought-provoking interaction bidding them farewell with a heavy heart, but with a hope that they fare well in life made everyone believe that “the struggles we endure today will be the ‘good old days’ we laugh about tomorrow.”.
The announcement of the much-awaited titles Mr. & Miss ISS & Mr. & Miss. Popular by the Principal took the function to the peak of excitement. Joseph Mathew of XII B and Dimpi of XII C bagged the titles Mr. Popular and Miss Popular respectively. Sparsh Gupta and Saumya of XII A were adjudged Mr. ISS and Miss ISS respectively. It was an awesome wonder for all of them, when they received the sashes at their doorstep, as a part of the school’s endeavour to give them a pleasant surprise.
The Vice-Principal, Dr. Vinu Kumar encouraged the students and inspired them to face and overcome difficulties through a beautiful poem. He wished good luck to all the students and urged them to gear up with their preparations and come out with the flying colours.
By releasing the bunch of balloons with the hearty best wishes, the Principal showered all the good wishes from the School Managing Committee, Staff and Student Community and wished they too would be soaring to new heights in the vast sky of their life.
