May 7th finds a special significance as it marks the birth anniversary of the exceptional literary icon, Rabindranath Tagore. Indian School Sohar celebrated Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti on 9th May 2021 by conducting a special assembly online for the students of Classes VI-XII. The assembly began with a beautiful poem written by Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Stream of Life’ recited by Arnav Naroth Santosh of Class VIII. The school choir presented a melodious and soulful song in Bengali and English 'Aaji Shuvo Din E'; 'On This Blessed Day'.
To add to the majestic journey, Mahek Shireen of Class IX delivered an inspiring speech on Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. This was followed by the creativity of our young artists of Classes VI to XII, who portrayed various stages of the life of the legend Rabindranath Tagore. Their artwork was presented along with a soulful rendition of Gurudev’s classic song “Ekla Chalo Re”.
A short video of Tagore's biography was beautifully presented to give insight into his life and achievements. Finally, a Quiz was conducted based on the life of Tagore by filling the Google Form. The assembly was well anchored by Aashna Puri and Hanah Omar of Class X.
With the joint efforts of the students, Music teacher Mr. Mamtaj Hossain Chowdhury, teachers, and Head of English Department Ms. Divya Johari, Vice- Principal Dr. Vinu Kumar and Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma, the assembly was indeed highly successful, where students showcased their talents and showed immense respect to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
